Second Announcement of International Workshop on Semi-Arid Land Surface-Atmosphere Interaction

Aug. 09-13, 2007, Lanzhou, China

Arid and semi-arid areas comprise about 30% of earth surface. Changes in climate and climate variability will likely have a significant impact on these regions. Semi-arid land surface-atmosphere interaction is not only one of the key issues in climate change research, it has also become a common concern of governments and people. This workshop is intended to review recent progress in understanding semi-arid land surface-atmosphere interaction and provide a forum to promote international cooperative studies on semi-arid climate change.

Key Topics of the workshop are:

  • Land surface-atmosphere interactions
  • Dust aerosol effect on hydrological cycle
  • Climate change monitoring in semi-arid environment
  • International cooperation on semi-arid research
